Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy - Book Covers And Dust Jackets

I illustrated the dust jackets and front covers for Douglas Adams’ classic sci-fi series ‘The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy’ published by Penguin.

The book covers only show half of the full illustration on the front, the dust jackets show the whole illustration. The dust jackets are an extension of the book covers and reveal the full illustration in a fun and interesting way.

The designs are kept simple and use bright colours. I concentrated on illustrating elements from the novels to engage fans of the series.

The dust jacket for ‘The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy’ depicts the ‘Bable Fish’, a universal translator that can bridge the language divide between any species.

The dust jacket for ‘Life, the Universe and Everything’ displays a super intelligent pan-dimensional being who ordered the construction of Earth, a mouse.

The dust jacket for ‘So Long, and Thanks for all the Fish’ stars a dolphin that tried in vain to warn humans of the impending destruction of the planet, and left humans with the message “So long, and thanks for all the fish”.
